Both of the endemics to UAE and Oman appear to tandem oviposit with the male
still above the female. I have put 3 photos on my Flickr page:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/rwreimer/319783318/ Arabineura khalidi (2 pair)

http://www.flickr.com/photos/rwreimer/319783213/ Arabineura khalidi (4 pair)

http://www.flickr.com/photos/rwreimer/319783116/ Arabicnemis caerulea

I have also observed and photographed tandems of both species ovipositing
with the male supported on rock or vegetation. If anyone wants higher
resolution versions for further study, I'd be happy to make them available.

It would be interesting to do a survey of tandem-ovipositing zygopterans to
see how much variation there is in male position and if it correlates with
appendage type. Lestes have a very different hookup, and I have never seen a
female supporting a male as you see so often in the Coenagrionidae. In fact,
I'm not sure I've seen that in any other family of zygopterans but
Protoneuridae and Platycnemididae, in which males are supported much as in
Argia. I wonder if this is the case in all species of the latter two
families.
