[Odonata-l] Clubtail ID help - large picture size

Hello Tommy,
Your clubtail looks to me like a female Gomphus fraternus (Midland Clubtail). The color pattern and structure basically match, and I believe I see a unicorn-like point on the occiput in the dorsal view. Female G. fraternus are the only species of the Gomphurus group with the latter characteristic. She must have been oviposting in the riffle that she was flying over.
