Hello everyone,
I wonder if anyone could give me a hand clarifying the current status
for the species name
Erythrodiplax connata minuscula
On the World Odonata List ( Schorr et al., Updated August 2007), There
are 2 species names that relate to it:
1. Current: Erythrodiplax connata (Burmeister, 1839)
Libellula connata Burmeister, 1839
Syn Libellula communis Rambur, 1842
Syn Libellula chloropleura Brauer, 1865
Syn Libellula leontina Brauer, 1865
2. Current: Erythrodiplax minuscula (Rambur, 1842)
Libellula minuscula Rambur, 1842
So I thougth that there was a mistake on the IDs, but then I found
karyotype data for Erythrodiplax connata minuscula on
Kiauta, B. & J. M. van Brink (1978) Male chromosome complements of
some florida dragonflies, United States. Odontatologica, 7, 15-25.
Hence, I really dont know if the specimen I got should be kept as
Erythrodiplax connata minuscula, or re-examined and changed to 1 of
the current names that appear on the list. My specimen is also from
Florida.
Thank you
Alex
